Do One Small Thing

Do One Small Thing

Making small, simple changes in your everyday life can help make a big difference in the health of your heart.

So, if you're feeling stressed, sluggish, or don't have a lot of time to exercise, try to just do One Small Thing each day to be kind to your heart. Before you know it, that One Small Thing may turn into two, three or four!

1. Trade the electric mower for a push mower.

2. Flex your abs when you stand in line or sit in a chair.

3. Focus on breathing deeply and steadily when exercising to maximize your workout.

4. Speed walk to the bus stop or to the store.

5. Try paddling a canoe at the lake.

6. Walk around while you talk on the phone.

7. Set your computer or phone to remind you to exercise.

8. Take a golf clinic to improve your swing.

9. Get light hand or ankle weights to boost lunges, squats or sit-ups.

10. Play catch with the kids in the back yard.

11. Dance around the house.

12. Take a mom-and-tot exercise class.

13. Book a weekly family night with active games instead of board games.

14. Get a mini trampoline and use it.

15. Put a fun sticker on your calendar each day that you do One Small Thing to love your heart, and try to fill the entire month.
